The Old Post Office, Guiting Power

The Old Post Office, Guiting Power

Moving house, I think we can all agree, comes with its fair share of stress so when we relocated not only our family but our business as well, we at Paper D'Art were over the moon to discover The Old Post Office in Guiting Power. A hub of the local community, The Old Post Office is always busy. Villagers, hikers, bikers, leaf-peepers, bird-fanciers, dog-walkers, the hunt, the cheery club, book club and the WI alike, buying postcards, enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake or fuelling up with a bacon sandwich. Luckily for Fable and me, dogs are always welcome. This is us preparing to go in for a dog biscuit and a chance to nibble some villagers (everyone's pitching in while she's teething to help us teach her villagers are not chew toys!)

And Luckily for our business, The Old Post Office is not just a folksy name, it does in fact contain a bijou new post office. As a result, Fable and I are quite likely to be found, any time on a Tuesday or on Thursday afternoons, entrusting your lovely Me&McQ purchases into the capable (sometimes Fable-nibbled) hands of Paula the Postperson and picking up three slices of chocolate cake for us here at Paper D'Art (none for Fable of course) while I'm there.

To celebrate this great village institution we decided to make it the centrepiece of a new Top of The World Pop Up Greetings Card, called The Cotswolds Featuring as many fun details as we could fit into one spectacular card, this snapshot of village life is the perfect souvenir of a visit to this beautiful little part of the world and you are sure to find Marie, the proprietor of The Old Post Office, has plenty in stock.Click here to visit The Old Post Office on Facebook.

All that's left for me now is to walk Fable back to the office while juggling Country Life, three slices of cake, a book of second class stamps and today's newspapers. Wish me luck!

See you next time.

PS. Here's a handy map to find this wonderful place. Thanks Google.

  • First time at the Post Office on a wet, windy Saturday morning. Met with a nice welcoming smile.
Had the most special bacon sandwich I’ve ever had. Scrumptious.
Just leaves with a warm feeling inside. Definitely worth more than one visit.
Going to make it it a regular event from now on.
Marie the owner is a delight. Cakes absolutely delicious. No hood for the diet, but who cares!!
